MOUNTAIN BIRD EXPEDITIONS
Customized Bird Watching & Nature Tours of the San Bernardino Mountains
Join me as we explore the beautiful Lake Arrowhead area of the San Bernardino Mountains in search of its amazing bird life. You'll see year-round favorites like Steller's jay, acorn woodpecker, and mountain chickadee, as well as a variety of colorful songbirds during spring migration or handsome waterfowl such as hooded merganser, ruddy duck, and bufflehead during the cooler months.

In order to maximize the number of bird species seen, we will hike a variety of habitats, including evergreen forest, oak woodlands, mountain lake, chaparral, and semi-desert (depending upon the time of year). Of course, we'll keep a keen eye out for other wildlife as well, including bobcat, coyote, black bear, mule deer, and mountain lion. You will also enjoy learning about the cultural and natural history of the Lake Arrowhead region.

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned birder, the mountains are sure to deliver a wonderful and memorable experience. Ages 7 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

ABOUT
Who We Are
Mountain Bird Expeditions (MBE) is a "boutique" ecotourism experience focusing on birds and the natural history of the San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California. MBE is owned and operated by Jim Stone, a life-long nature enthusiast and leader of natural history expeditions to a variety of locations including the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, Baja California, the Canadian Maritimes, and coastal New England. Jim lives in Lake Arrowhead, CA, the starting point of all MBE tours.
OUR BIRDING TOURS
Here’s What We Provide
Each experience we provide is custom tailored to individual interests, needs, and abilities. If there is a particular species you're hoping to see, just let us know and we'll do our best to find it.
Transportation
All trips meet in the lower parking lot at Lake Arrowhead Village near Bank of America. We provide transportation to all birding sites, but you must provide transportation to and from Lake Arrowhead Village.
Equipment and Supplies
I have a few extra pairs of binoculars in case you don't have any, but I strongly recommend bringing your own. I'll also have a spotting scope available for distant viewing of waterfowl. I provide snacks, water, and soft drinks. Lunch is not provided.

Unless otherwise specified, all tours start at 7:30 AM.
